Grant ButlerOlive oil and Alzheimer's: As researchers continue to study the Mediterranean diet, they're finding out more possible links between food and better health.
The latest findings looks at the connection between extra virgin olive oil and Alzheimer's disease, which isn't as common in Mediterranean countries.
According to the Huffington Post, olive oil contains the compound oleocanthal, which was previously shown to protect nerve cells from the damage that Alzheimer's inflicts.
The new research shows that oleocanthal helps increase production of certain proteins in the brain, which can help prevent Alzheimer's.
